Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has started issuing tender documents to private firms for consultancy purposes with respect to the Rawalpindi Ring road project, according to a news source.

This development came about after the authorities concerned had completed the route alignment process for the mega-project. Six firms interested in the consultancy contracts have already acquired the tender documents. The government plans to award these contracts in two months.

Once the consultancy procedure is done, the government will acquire land for the project. For this purpose, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is willing to provide a loan worth PKR 47 billion.

The RDA is the executing body of the project and will complete the land acquisition process. This project will start from Banth on GT Road and end at the Thaliyan Interchange. Two 12-kilometre-long roads will also be built to connect Ring Road with Rawat and Tarnol.
