Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority’s (RDA) governing body on Wednesday approved its first housing scheme – titled ‘RDA City’ – and constituted a five-member technical committee to compile a report on its land acquisition and other project-related affairs within 15 days, according to news sources.

The new RDA housing scheme is to be designed on the patterns of Lahore’s LDA City and would span over 3,000 kanals. The governing body has also approved a short-term consultancy in a bid to prepare a feasibility study for highlighting a suitable location for the project.

Moreover, the meeting also allowed the construction of buildings on the RDA-authorised commercial roads, as per the new building by-laws.
The said decisions were made in the 49th meeting of the authority’s governing body held under Chairman Tariq Mehmood Murtaza. The meeting agenda also included a plan to establish a direction for future development of the metropolis.
