Reportedly, RDA has been facing problems in the discharge of duties because of the staff shortage. This has led to the delay of the project inauguration in December as the survey of the land for the said project could not be completed on time. RDA was previously charged with surveying 16.5 kilometres of land along the storm drain. According to the details, the land designated for the project includes 1,279 kanals, of which 1,035.9 kanals are private, 132.4 kanals are held by Military Engineering and Works, 54.7 kanals are controlled by Chaklala Cantonment Board, and 56 kanals are owned by Rawalpindi Cantonment Board.

In addition, it is projected that 1,604 homes would be demolished as part of the project. In another development, Rawalpindi’s Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) plans to build a 15-kilometre-long water supply line from Chauhan Dam to six union councils in the city. The planned regions would receive 6 million gallons of water each day from the project. The project would benefit the union councils of Chakra, Girja, Chak Jalaldin 1 and 2, Kilial, and Lakhan. The Punjab government has already committed to allocating PKR 5 billion to the project, with PKR 1 billion going toward land purchase for the supply line.
