Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) is aiming to recover tax dues worth PKR 1.2 billion by improving its taxation system and launching a recovery drive, according to a news source. It was revealed that these taxes had been due since 2003, and certain factors had led to the civic organisation being unable to recover them.
A meeting for this purpose has been planned for the coming week so that a definite action plan can be made. However, it was shared that this drive will initially be started in Saddar, where most of the defaulters are located. Recovering this amount will help RCB close the gap between its expenditure and income.
According to details, 2,000 owners of commercial units owe PKR 1.2 billion in property tax, and this list of owners is to be presented before the higher authorities for final approval. Officials also reiterated that property owners not following the bylaws and not providing proper parking spaces in commercial units will also be penalised.
