Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) is going to launch a beautification drive in the city, a news source reported. The drive will include the construction of five main roads, and a complete revamp of the Saddar Bazaar area.
A senior official has stated that the board plans to spend PKR 20 million on this project. The drive will focus on planting trees in the city, along with the renovation of major road networks. These include Kashmir Road, Bank Road, Haider Road, Canning Road, and Adamjee Road.

RCB has requested IESCO, cable operators, and telephone companies to relocate their wires underground. For this purpose, the civic body has scheduled a meeting for next week. Also, a specific pattern will be issued to the shopkeepers for fashioning their signboards.
The official informed that RCB had failed to initiate these measures in the past due to shortage of funds. In a similar drive launched last year, the Board had beautified The Mall and Peshawar Road networks from Military Hospital to Racecourse Park.
