Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) is looking to grant a two-to-three year grace period for registering houses built without building plans in the cantonment area, a news source report. This extension will allow property owners to submit their building plans on time to the authority.

The houses will be allotted their respective CB numbers after their plans are approved. This decision was made during a meeting of the RCB. The members in attendance insisted that houses should be regulated. They argued that cantonment areas have several old houses that were originally constructed without any building plans. They said that RCB would be able to receive sizeable building plan fees, development charges, and property taxes through regularisation.
Previously, the board had banned the allotment of CB numbers to houses without building plans.
RCB has also issued warning notifications to people using leased residential property for commercial purposes. They have been directed to stop business within 30 days, or risk cancellations of their lease agreements.
