Previously, the board had issued a two-week deadline to the citizens to get their illegal water connections regularised and their dues cleared.

To facilitate this measure, the civic agency also installed banners and hoardings at important roads and intersections in the city. These banners warned residents of Rawalpindi Cantonment areas against repercussions of water theft and having an illegal water connection, and advised them to get their connections regularised.

With the deadline now expired, the board has started to take the action. In addition to terminating illegal water connections, the RCB will also take legal actions and impose heavy fines on the culprits. Furthermore, the board also announced that water supply to the areas having issues of non-payment of water bills will also be terminated. The supply will resume only when the pending dues are cleared.
