Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) recently notified the owners of 20 buildings about the violation they had committed during the construction of their structures in the city, a news source reported. The civic body’s Land Branch issued the notices under RCB’s ongoing drive against illegal constructions in Rawalpindi.

According to RCB spokesperson Qaiser Mahmood, the authority had intensified its operation against illegal constructions and served notice to those plaza owners who had violated the building rules and regulations.
Acting upon the directives of the Cantonment Executive Officer (CEO), RCB’s Building Control Department teams carried out raids in different areas of the city. This included Farooqabad, Masrial Road, Peshawar Road, Usmania Colony, Marble Factory, Quaid-e-Azam Colony, and Ahmedabad areas.
The officials concerned then issued notices to owners of the buildings identified. Mahmood added that the RCB will continue with its drive against illegal buildings.

Previously, RCB had also served eviction notices to owners and residents of dilapidated building in the city. The civic body had collaborated with the Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC) to issue the notices for a second time. The occupants were requested to vacate the buildings ahead of the monsoon season so as to prevent mishaps.
