Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has issued eviction notices to the residents and owners of dilapidated (old grants and leased out) buildings to vacate the premises on an immediate basis, according to a news source.

In case both dilapidated commercial and residential buildings are not vacated in the given time, the board will demolish the buildings.

The notice directs the building owners to contact the Cantonment Board for regularization of the said structures. Further, it will forward the cases for approval to the authorities concerned. As per reports, the board will not allow rehabilitation of dilapidated buildings leased out under the old grand and Cant Code Lease. The board will instead demolish them.

Currently, around 300 commercial and residential buildings leased under old grant in Cantt’s Saddar and Gawalmandi areas have been rehabilitated. These buildings have been restored to become livable and cause revenue loss to the board in terms of Building Plan fee.
