Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board has started to send notices to the residents of Railway Housing Scheme in a bid to include these into the tax net, a news source reported. In the past, Railway Housing Schemes were not part of the RCB’s jurisdiction.

RCB Executive Offiicer Sibteen Raza has formed a special team to include Pakistan Railways housing projects into the tax net for collection of property tax. In this regard, the board also issued notices to the residents of these societies for the first time.

Residents of these housing schemes claim that the Railways Cooperative Housing Society is responsible for provision of civic amenities and utility services, so these schemes are not part of the RCB. They have warned that if the board includes these schemes in their domain, then they will seek a legal recourse.

Responding to this, the RCB spokesperson said that the board will take its final decision after listening to the residents of these housing projects.
