The decision has been taken to ensure that tens of millions of rupees in revenue is collected where it is due. The Old Grant Policy was initially issued in 1996 and has been successively issued every five years since. The current policy was initiated in January 2017 and will last until the end of 2021.
The authorities will take action in the areas where the residential Old Grant Property is being used for commercial purposes without paying the relevant commercialisation fee to regularise the property.

The residents have expressed willingness to pay the regularisation fees but have called on the authorities to lower the premium and the fees required for the regularisation.
