Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has applied for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the National Highway Authority (NHA) for linking a water pipeline across GT Road, according to a news report. This pipeline will supply water to Chaklala Cantonment areas and is a part of Khanpur Dam water supply project.
Work on Khanpur Dam water supply project is almost 96% complete and the entire project is expected to be completed soon. This is an important project as Rawalpindi and Chaklala Cantonment areas rely on water supply from the Khanpur Dam and underground water level is depleting fast enough. The RCB also notified that they have received an NOC from Pakistan Railways and that payment has been received for using its land for laying pipelines at four points.
