Rawalpindi: The Land Branch of the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) on Tuesday issued 15 notices to builders found developing illegal projects on the city’s Peshawar Road and other locations, a news source reported.

To this effect, RCB spokesperson Qaiser Mahmood stated that the Cantonment Board had amplified its campaign against illegal structures and issued notices to the owners of illegal buildings.

Mahmood informed that the RCB executed raids in the vicinity of Peshawar Road, Farooqabad, Usmania Colony, Marble Factory area, Quaid-e-Azam Colony, and Ahmedabad area to identify illegal constructions and issued notices to the property owners under various sections.

Previously, District and Sessions Special Consumer Court Judge Abdul Hafeez had taken notice of the increase in illegal structures and directed the RCB, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), and Metropolitan Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR) to launch a campaign against such projects.

The spokesperson further stated that the civic agency had approved 14 commercial and 80 residential building plans during the last month. Illegal buildings will be razed down and severe action would be taken against their owners, he added.
