Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) on Monday conducted an operation against illegal constructions in several areas of the city, a news source reported. The board’s officials also served notices to the owners of buildings found in violation of its by-laws framework.

RCB Spokesman Qaiser Mahmood stated that the officials concerned had conducted the raids following the directives of Cantonment Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Muhammad Umar Farooq Ali Malik.
The spokesperson said that the RCB’s Building Control Department teams raided several areas in the city. These included Gawalmandi, Tench Bhatta, Dhoke Syedan, Saddar, Peoples Colony, Mughalabad, and Masrial Road. During the raids, notices were issued against 35 property owners whose constructions violated the building by-laws.
The RCB officials issued the notices to property owners as per the law against illegal constructions within the cantonment areas. The board’s spokesperson added that the RCB had recently decided to expedite the pace of its operation against illegally constructed buildings within its jurisdiction.

Additionally, earlier this month, the RCB had also planted 16,500 saplings in the city’s cantonment area.
