Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has completed a survey for identifying illegally constructed commercial buildings within its jurisdiction — with the investigation having isolated 300 such buildings in the city, a news source reported. Following this development, the authority has formed dedicated teams to take action against these unauthorised structures.

The survey operation had been launched by the RCB’s Building Branch on the directions of RCB Cantonment Executive Officer (CEO) Omer Farooq Ali Malik. Reportedly, the survey teams combed through the various commercial areas located within the RCB’s jurisdiction and identified a number of illegal constructions — with the structures having been developed without the requisite layout approvals. Now that the surveys have been completed, the RCB CEO has directed the officials concerned to launch a crackdown against the identified buildings later this month.
