Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) is directed to establish a supervisory committee to resolve the issues of property tax and encroachments in bazaars within its jurisdiction, news sources reported on February 4.

The committee will be headed by the Station Commander Brig Salman Nazar who stated that the authority will work closely with traders. He said that the committee will work for the betterment of civic infrastructure and address concerns including the issue of property taxes, sanitation, street lights, public toilets, parking, construction, and maintenance of roads. He added that the committee will take input from the traders and will help businesses function better through improved solutions to their prevailing concerns.

Brig Nazar also met with the members of the trade unions and assured the resolution of all outstanding issues at the earliest. He highlighted that the RCB has allocated 200 kanals for a new graveyard site. Moreover, to facilitate the residents, new buses will be procured to carry mourners to the graveyards.

It is important to note that RCB is one of the largest cantonment areas in the county. The RCB collects its own taxes and has rules that govern businesses, housing codes and construction activities.
