Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has submitted a budget of PKR 3.572 billion for the fiscal year (FY) 2021-22 to the Military Land and Cantonment (MLC) for final approval, news sources reported.

In the proposed new budget, RCB has imposed no new taxes or increased tariffs on water this year and has vowed to make the tax collection process more efficient. The board has also said that the new taxes. revision of water surcharges and development work on uplifting schemes will be executed after the local government election.
The planned budget will be spent in accordance with the following specifics:
• PKR PKR 301 million will be spent on the development schemes
• PKR 1.4 billion is set aside for the payment of salaries of the employees
• PKR 700 million for the contingency and utility bills payment
• PKR 422 million on the miscellaneous expenditure
• PKR 450 will be spent on the repair and maintenance of various equipment

Moreover, the officials have placed the total target of revenue around PKR 3.67 billion with an opening budget of PKR 97.85 million. Of the total sum, PKR 2.045 billion is expected to be raised through property tax, while property rent tax is expected to be raised around PKR 1.014 billion as compared to the PKR 653 million raised last year.
