RCB Cantonment Executive Officer Imran Gulzar revealed that the civic agency is surveying the cantonment area including Westridge, Shalley Valley, Han Colony, Peshawar Road Lane 4, Banaras Colony, and others to identify illegal houses and structures. The board cleared illegal structures from three localities in the cantonment area including rooms, washrooms, backyards, and some houses.
As per the details, the executive officer mentioned that in the first phase, the RCB will clear the drains and nullahs from obstacles and encroachments. In the second phase, a proper drive will be launched to clear cantonment areas from all encroachments.
Moreover, the executive officer stated that the encroachment on the drains caused the rainwater to enter shops and houses which damaged the structures. As per the law, no building can be constructed on drains, nullahs, water channels and banks. However, in the past few years, several structures have been constructed without any check.
