Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) on Sunday approved budget recommendations worth PKR 3.75 billion for the (fiscal year) FY2019-20, a news source reported.

The board sanctioned the draft budget document during a recent meeting presided over by RCB President Shehzad Tanvir. Vice President Malik Munir, Executive Officer Sibtain Raza, and other senior board officials, were also present at the occasion.
As per reports, RCB has granted a subsidy worth PKR 730 million to the city’s health, education and water supply sectors in its budget considerations. It has also allocated a significant amount for procuring and maintaining compactors, tractors, dumpers, and water boring machines.
However, the board did not propose any new taxes on residents and business owners of the cantonment area in its budget recommendations for FY2019-20. Moreover, it has established a new department to oversee revenue recoveries.

The cantonment board is expected to forward its budget recommendations to the Military Land and Cantonment (MLC) Regional Director Dr Saima Shah for gaining a final approval.
