Rawalpindi: Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan announced that the Punjab government has prepared a project plan aimed at supplying gas to the suburban areas of Rawalpindi, according to a news source. As per the publication, the government will be laying a 30-kilometre long gas pipeline between the city and Gujar Khan’s Adhi Oil & Gas Field for this purpose.

The gas supply project is estimated to cost PKR 500 billion and, once approved, it is expected to be completed by February 2020. According to the project plan, a gas pipeline will be laid from Rawat Chowk to 502 Workshop, while a 10-inch wide gas pipeline connecting Adyala will be laid in the second phase of the project. According to Khan, the NOCs for all the projects have already been procured from all departments concerned.

The areas that will benefit from the gas supply project include Koth Kalan, Sherzaman Colony, Askari 13 & 14, Adyala, Talsa, Morgah, Mubarak Lane and Lalazar.

The news source further revealed that the concerned department has also formally sought permission from the Military Land & Cantonment director general to lay pipelines to supply gas within cantonment areas.
