Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Saturday (February 11) briefed stakeholders of the Taxila and Kahuta regarding the ongoing development of peri-urban structure plans and site development zones, the news sources reported.

In this regard, a briefing on the ongoing zoning developments was given to residents, municipal officials, and architects at meetings held in the offices of assistant commissioner Taxila and tehsil officer Kahuta. The city administration and Mott Macdonald Pakistan (MMP), the zoning consultant, provided a briefing to the meeting on the proposed data and the division of the Rawalpindi region into three zones.
It was stated that under the peri-urban plans, the area will be divided into distinct zones, with housing societies and industries not being permitted outside the proposed areas, in order to better manage the population and restrict land use. Moreover, areas outside of a particular zone will only be used for farming and cultivation.

On the occasion, RDA Director General Mohammad Saif Anwar Jappa said that the authority is working in collaboration with the local government and the civic agency to prepare a 25-year master plan for the city.
It is also important to mention that the RDA has been preparing a zone development plan for the next 25 years and has hired a consultant to demarcate land for the various sections. Under the plan, Rawalpindi city will be divided into separate residential, industrial, and green zones for better land management.
