Rawalpindi: A food street facility, similar to the traditional culinary attraction situated in Lahore, has been set up in Rawalpindi’s Kartarpur Chowk area on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, reported a news source. The food street will become operational on the first of Ramzan, this year.

The said marketplace is expected to remain open during the sahur and iftar times, initially – and will later operate during extended hours of the day and night. It will feature 50 shops offering a variety of food options, including fast, street and desi meal provisions. Parks and Horticulture Authority Chairman Asif Mehmood will supervise all the operations.

The Punjab Food Authority will monitor and maintain the quality of the food items offered at the venue, while the traffic police will manage the street’s parking area. Sources claim that the traffic police will share its parking plans within one week’s time (from the date of this report).

To make it attractive for visitors, the street will come embellished with attractive furniture, lighting, plantation, and canopies. Its beautification process is expected to start this week.
