Rawalpindi: Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Tuesday (December 28) inaugurated the Ammar Chowk Flyover, according to news sources. The Ammar Shaheed Chowk extension and remodelling project was completed three days before the scheduled time.

As per the details, the project sustained several design changes and the construction was started in early 2021. According to the approved design, twin underpasses were constructed and a new service line was added. It also included undergrounding of High Tension (H.T) and Low Tension (L.T) cables.

Reportedly, the project was part of the four mega projects announced by the Punjab government to ensure the smooth flow of traffic in the cantonment city. Previously, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Tariq Mahmood Murtaza stated that once the Ammar Chowk project was completed, a PKR 3.8 billion two-story flyover project, in early 2022, will be started at Kutchery Chowk that will be followed by PKR 2.1 billion Defence Chowk project.
