Rawalpindi: Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Thursday revealed that the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project has been approved and construction will start in August, according to news sources.

She stated during a news conference held at the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) headquarters that all efforts are being made to begin construction of the 38-km long Rawalpindi Ring Road, which runs from G.T Road to Thulian near the Motorway. RDA Chairman Tariq Murtaza, RDA Director General Nadeem Ahmed Abro, and Vice Chairman Haroon Hashmi were present during the meeting.
She added that an anti-corruption investigation into the anomalies discovered in the prior plan is near completion, and that the decision would be made public soon.
During the press conference, Dr Firdous stated that action is being done to combat illicit stone crushing in Hasanabdal, which is contributing to environmental concerns.

RDA has planned the development of housing projects, of which 62 have been authorised and 60 are in the process of being approved. 264 housing projects, on the other hand, have been ruled illegal. Apart from that, the RDA has filed 112 FIRs against unlawful societies, shut 105 offices, and given 307 legal notifications.
Dr Firdous also revealed that three underpasses are being built at Katchery Chowk, Ammar Chowk, and Defense Chowk.
