Rawalpindi: The administration will make all efforts for completing the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project within two years, a news source quoted Commissioner Rawalpindi Captain (retd) Muhammad Mehmood as saying.

The commissioner stated that the Punjab government wanted progress on the RRR project so it could help ease traffic problems in the central parts of the city. The commissioner, during a recent meeting, also reviewed the progress on the project. He opined that once completed, RRR would be a game changer for the city. He added that Rawalpindi’s future was associated with this project.
As per reports, the provincial government wants to set up industrial zones, health city, education city, housing projects, and commercial areas along the RRR route. Further, the authorities concerned would also shift the wholesale markets from the city areas to along the RRR.
On the other hand, the commissioner revealed the Punjab government also planned to connect RRR with the motorway.

According to the official sources, RRR would not only help ease traffic congestion, but reduce time travel between Rawalpindi and Islamabad. It will also help the city grow towards to the southwest side in planned manner.
