According to PC-1, the former route of the 38-km long road has been restored, beginning from G.T Road near Rawat and ending at Thalian near the Motorway. According to a spokesperson for the divisional administration, the project’s PC-1 will be approved.
However, a senior district administration official, whose name was not disclosed, expressed worry that the project had not been included in the Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2021-22. He also questioned how Project PC-1 would be revised without any consultation.
He further stated that if the RRR project is developed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), approval will be granted by the Public-Private Partnership Authority, which is chaired by the Punjab Chief Minister. If, on the other hand, the road was constructed using government funding, the PC-1 will be forwarded to Planning and Development for approval.

According to reports, the administration is considering road alignment changes. It will be difficult for the government to attract investors until the investigation is completed. The government has announced that construction will begin in August. In addition, the Punjab government has requested that the Lahore Ring Road Authority and the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) rebuild the route. The government will fund the project after it has been authorised.
