Rawalpindi: The Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) has started the construction work on the Rawalpindi Ring Road project, valued at PKR 30 billion, according to news published in the leading newspaper on September 23.

As per the details, the Ring Road project spans 38.3 kilometres and has secured land from Chak Beli Khan to Adiala, covering a 12-kilometre stretch, while 26.3 kilometres of land acquisition is still pending. The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has requested the caretaker Punjab government to release funds for the project.
Rawalpindi Division Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatha, who also serves as the project director, has announced a significantly reduced completion timeline of six months, following the directive of caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The land acquisition process will be conducted under Section 17(4) of the Land Acquisition Act, compensating landowners at market rates plus an additional 15%.

The Ring Road project is designed to include five interchanges and an industrial zone, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance transportation in the region.
