Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi district is all set to get its first regional development plans (RDPs) for the district and peri-urban structural plans for the tehsil headquarters, news sources reported on November 15.

The plan would include infrastructure development and the commencement of projects in the tehsils of Gujar Khan, Taxila, Kallar Syedan, and Kahuta. In this regard, a meeting was convened at the Rawalpindi Development Authority’s (RDA) headquarters, presided over by Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Saqib Manan, who was given a full presentation of the RDP’s planned initiatives. The RDA’s project consultant updated the participants on the ongoing work and statistics on the peri-urban infrastructure.

It was also agreed that a coordination group of planning officers from local governments and the RDA would be formed to ensure the coherence of urban and regional development plans. Additionally, the Program Management Unit (PMU) formed for the execution of the project will work with the Local Government Department and consultant to prepare site development zones and urban planning for the Rawalpindi Tehsil.
