Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Division Commissioner Captain (retired) Muhammad Mehmood recently directed the administration of Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum and Rawalpindi to shut down all sports facilities, gymnasiums, swimming pools, children’s play areas and shrines for three weeks, a news source reported. The measures are being taken to control the coronavirus spread.

Speaking to the media, Commissioner Mehmood said that while there has been no reported case of an infected person in the city, taking the precautions is important. Answering a question, he said the decision to shut down markets and shopping malls has not been taken as of yet.

All educational institutes in the city have already been closed, while ban on public gatherings is expected to be implemented soon, said Mehmood. Moreover, people have been directed to take preventive measures to keep themselves and others safe.
