Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has invited bids from interested firms to finalise a consultant for the formation of the Rawalpindi Master Plan 2040, a news source reported. In this regard, the authority finalised the terms of reference (TORs) in July.

The existing master plan of the city is set to expire in the current fiscal year, while the new draft will help determine the city’s urban construction needs and layout for the next 20 years.
As per the approved TORs, the utility services, road infrastructure, civic amenities, and all other related city infrastructure will be planned in accordance with the expected rise in the city’s population during the next 20 years.
As per the details share by the RDA, the consultancy firm chosen will be bound by contract to share its proposed master plan within six months of its appointment. The RDA chairman expressed its hope that the new master plan would prove comprehensive enough to serve as a guideline to assist any government departments requiring direction.

Soon after the master plans gets finalized, the RDA is expected to form a committee to ensure its thorough implementation.
