Rawalpindi: The Punjab Planning & Development (P&D) wing has approved the Rawalpindi Kutcheri Chowk remodelling project under which the interchange will be made signal-free, a news reported. It has further directed the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to hire the project consultant for the preparation of a feasibility report.

The project is expected to cost PKR 20 billion. The remodelling will help control the traffic flow in the surrounding areas. It is a critical intersection that leads to Jinnah Park, Jhanda Chichi, Chaklala Scheme III, and Benazir Bhutto International Airport and faces heavy traffic as well as traffic jams.

Rawalpindi Kutcheri Chowk project will be completed by the RDA whereas the funds will be provided by Punjab government. After remodelling of Kutcheri Chowk, the P&D is expected to remodel the Defence Chowk on Jhelum Road.
