Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Division Commissioner Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah stated on Tuesday (December 28) that the first digital Girdawari project in the division is approaching completion, with key rural regions already mapped, according to news reports. The Girdawari project was launched to assess the real position of rural land, crops and structures in villages and to avoid land grabbing cases.

Reportedly, a mobile application has already been developed and launched as part of the initiative to provide remote access as well as identify the location and boundary of land. It was said that the initiative will aid in tax collection and the resolution of mutation and inheritance issues. The proposal would significantly reduce manual land record tempering and other malpractices. A district gazetteer has been published to collect up-to-date and concise information for all tehsils, revealed the commissioner.

This will be followed by the launch of mobile centres to assist people in remote rural regions. In addition, a special revenue court case management system will be established to provide speedy resolution in land-related disputes and pleas.
