Reportedly, the department has already allocated the funds required for the development of these mini dams. The dams will serve as water reservoirs to irrigate the forests and to save rainwater. Speaking to the media, Forest Department Administration Director Muhammad Nauman said that a mini dam pilot project set up previously in the forest had proven to be successful. He added that the previous project’s success had paved the way for the development of the additional 18 dams.

The planned mini dams are expected to help revive and nurture wildlife in these forests, serve as fish hatcheries, and be a source for supplying water to the residential areas. These reservoirs will also serve as aquifers to deal with any unfortunate incidents like forest fires.
