Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Division has been allocated PKR 229.833 billion for 395 schemes under the Annual Development Programme 2024-25, claimed a news source on September 6.

According to the details, Commissioner Aamir Khattak announced this during a review meeting of the Divisional Development Working Party, where he also approved the widening of the 66km Rawalpindi-Murree-Kashmir Road at Lower Topa.
Commissioner Khattak emphasised that the current infrastructure is insufficient to handle the heavy traffic from tourists and commercial activities, necessitating this expansion. The project, costing PKR 133 million and set to be completed within six months by the Punjab Highway Department, aims to alleviate congestion.
During the meeting, Commissioner Khattak stressed the importance of adhering to policy guidelines, using quality materials, and accelerating project completion to avoid public inconvenience caused by delays. Out of the 395 schemes, 274 are ongoing, and 121 are new, promising improved quality of life for residents.

The meeting, attended by Additional Commissioner Coordination Syed Nazarat Ali, Assistant Director Development, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance and Planning), SE Highways, Xen Building, and other relevant officials, focused on enhancing public convenience.
