Rawalpindi: A total of 500 schemes worth PKR 86.9 billion are to be launched in Rawalpindi Division, out of which 430 projects are approved and the rest are in process, according to news published on August 2.

The Commissioner Office spokesperson, whose name was not disclosed, stated that 361 initiatives were approved under the Annual Development Programme (ADP). It contained 264 new projects as well as 96 ongoing projects.
The new projects were introduced in different sectors including 33 for Highway Division, 72 for Building Division, 5 of Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), 50 for Local Government and Community Development, 12 of RC Division, 4 of Sports Department, 5 of Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), 29 for Public Health, one small dam project and 8 for several departments including Tourism, Wildlife, Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), Allied Hospitals, and Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA).
In a meeting of the Divisional Development Working Party (DWP), Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah directed concerned authorities to periodically review development projects and ensure high quality. The commissioner also approved three projects for the Building Department, three for WASA, and one for the Highway Division at the meeting.

Furthermore, the spokesperson stated that WASA has submitted a few projects, comprising sewer lines to be laid in Union Councils 21 to 29, as well as drainage and sewer line projects in Union Councils 1 to 12, as well as Union Councils 36 and 37. Another project filed for approval was for the upkeep and upgrading of the sewerage system of Satellite Town and surrounding areas.
