Rawalpindi: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Captain (rtd) Anwarul Haq has directed the Rescue 1122, Civil Defence Department (CDD), Police Department, health organisations, and the municipal bodies to take the precautionary measures needed against flooding in the upcoming monsoon season, according to a news source. He also instructed the authorities to activate the flood warning system.

The Rawalpindi DC issued these directives after the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted heavy pre-monsoon rainfall for this year. The PMD declared the time period between June 15 and July 14 as the pre-monsoon season, while monsoon would be from July 15 to August 12.

In addition, the administration will establish a control room in the offices of the metropolitan municipal corporation, along with a central flood control room in the CDD. The Rawalpindi DC also directed the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) to desilt and clean the Nullah Leh, along with other storm drains in the city.
