Rawalpindi: Commissioner Captain (retired) Mohammad Mehmood on Wednesday asked truck and bus stand owners to relocate their operations to the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project site; further stating that land designated for heavy duty vehicles terminals was available at cheaper rates at the RRR project site, a news source reported.

He expressed his views on the matter during an RRR project review meeting at the Commissioner’s Office. Planning and Development (P&D) Director Nazia Parveen Sudhan, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Director General Maqbool Ahmed, Project Director Mohammad Abdullah, and other officials concerned were all present at the occasion.
The commissioner further issued directives for truck and bus stand owners to shift their businesses out of the city within two years; adding that the entry of heavy duty transport would be banned following the completion of the RRR project.

He said that the authorities concerned would contact bus and truck station owners to apprise them of the benefits of the proposed relocation. He also directed the RDA to apprise the representatives of various industries regarding the importance of economic zones planned along the RRR route.
