Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment and City now faces a shortfall of 20 Million Gallons per Day (MGD), a news source reported.
According to details, about 100 tubewells have dried up because of hot weather, while the water levels have reached a dangerous over the past couple of years. Rawalpindi has a demand of 80 MGD while it is receiving 60 MGD.
Taking advantage of the shortfall, the private water tanker providers have raised their prices the average price of a tanker is now between PKR 1,500 and PKR 2,000.
