Rawalpindi: The district administration decided to provide assistance to local property owners seeking to reclaim their land usurped by encroachers, according to a publication. To facilitate this measure, the Rawalpindi deputy commissioner asked the affectees to share the details of their encroached properties with the officials concerned.

As per the official statement (circulated through various national dailies), citizens who had not approached the civil court (to initiate legal proceedings against land grabbers) were asked to lodge their complaints with the Rawalpindi District Administration.

Moreover, the administration requested the public to share details on benami properties. As per the government policy, the names of the whistleblowers will be kept confidential. The publication also warned that misinformers could face jail terms of up to five years.
