Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi administration has identified 60 roads for rehabilitation in the city and cantonment areas that were damaged due to heavy rains, according to news published in the leading newspaper on August 16.

Rawalpindi Commissioner Noorul Amin Mengal stated that the local administration has devised a comprehensive plan to rehabilitate roads next month. As per the details, the damage caused to the roads was worth PKR 5 billion. Reportedly, for the first time, the administration will construct service ducts on the side of the road to prevent further digging. It was revealed that the selected roads for restoration were the ones which have been damaged in the last four years and due to a recent spell of rain.

Moreover, the commissioner stated that green areas and footpaths will be developed along the roads. The roads in the city area will be funded by the Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC) while 40 roads will be funded by the provincial government. The RMC has sought expression of interest from reputed companies for rehabilitation work.
