Rawalpindi: The district administration has begun developing more hill stations in its bid to reduce tourist influx in the country’s existing centres of tourism; including Murree, a news source reported.
According to Divisional Commissioner Saqib Zafar, the Punjab government has directed the authorities concerned to develop more hill stations in the city, and to renovate all the historical buildings.

He expressed the hope that the provincial government’s efforts to create new tourist spots would, in turn, facilitate the creation of jobs for the local people.
To facilitate this measure, the officials concerned recently identified several locations; including Rohtas Fort, Alexander the Great monument in Jhelum, and Kahuta among others. The administration plans to open state guest houses inside these destinations following restoration efforts.

Moreover, the authorities concerned want to turn Kahuta into a new hill station, but this process requires the executive’s approval. Similarly, the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) will undertake initiatives for the promotion of tourism in Rawalpindi.
