Rawalpindi: The city administration on Wednesday notified the reopening of more businesses amid the going coronavirus lockdown, a news source reported. These outlets were allowed to resume their business activities after adopting precautionary measures prescribed by the Punjab government.

As per the publication, the Punjab Home Department recently extended the lockdown imposed under Section 144(6) till April 25. The number of coronavirus infections has been on the rise in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anwar-ul-Haq said that the city administration would follow the directions of the Punjab government. To this effect, welders, barbers, tailors, dry cleaners, electric shops, hardware shopkeepers, car mechanics, fan and fridge mechanics, auto shopkeepers, and beauty parlour operators among others were allowed to conduct their businesses with necessary precautionary protocols.

The DC said that all shopping malls, markets, public places, restaurants, educational institutions, parks, gyms, cinemas, marriage halls, and snooker clubs would remain closed as per the earlier orders. Additionally, all kinds of public transport services within the city, out of the city, within the province and out of the province have been banned till further notice.
