Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Division Commissioner (DC) Noor ul Amin Mengal on Saturday (February 19) directed the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) and all concerned departments to take strict action against illegal housing schemes, news sources reported. In this regard, a committee has been formed to access and monitor illegal housing schemes and their development status.

According to the details shared, the decision was taken during the 58th governing body meeting. The DC formed a monitoring committee comprising of the RDA Vice Chairman, RDA Chief Engineer, MP&TE Director and Land Development and Estate Management (LD&EM) Director. The committee will be responsible for examining and confirming the mortgages and the status of the development projects undertaken by private housing organisations. Moreover, Mengal asked the Metropolitan Planning & Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) officials to take action against illegal commercial structures built in violation of the Building and Zoning Regulations 2020.

Moreover, the meeting also approved the hiring of consultants for the Rawalpindi Ring Road and Kutchery Chowk projects. It was noted that contracts for both projects will be awarded soon to complete the projects on time.
