Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday (August 14) inaugurated the Rawal Chowk flyover and underpass project, news sources reported. The project has been opened for traffic ahead of its scheduled completion date of October.

According to reports, the premier cut the ribbon of the newly constructed PKR 1 billion flyover during Independence Day festivities. On this occasion, Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Amir Ali Ahmad briefed the premier that the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) has completed the construction work in 100 days despite monsoon rains. He also informed the premier that the project includes a flyover and two underpasses capable of handling traffic surges reaching up to 100,000 vehicles daily. The flyover will also provide access to and from Chak Shehzad, Serena Chowk, and Faizabad. He stated that the remaining work on the underpasses will be completed in the next 25 days, after which they will also be open to traffic.

The premier also got a briefing on the Bhara Kahu underpass project and directed that it should be completed within four months. He said that public welfare initiatives are extremely important and that no delays will be tolerated in the execution of such schemes.
