Islamabad: Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Amir Ali Ahmed on Monday (December 13) met directed authorities to complete the Rawal Dam Interchange and 7th Avenue project by October next year, news sources reported. He also directed that all four slip roads on the Rawal Dam Interchange construction site be opened by the end of this month to alleviate traffic congestion.

According to a press release issued by the authorities, the chairman has directed the authorities to carpet all slip roads, as well as place reflectors and diversion signs to guide and relieve traffic jams. In addition, Chairman Ahmed has directed that work on PKR 1.1 billion projects be expedited and completed by June 2022, months ahead of the October 2022 target. The civic body head stated that the flyover at the construction site will be completed and ready for traffic by January 2022. He also visited the 7th Avenue construction site, which is also anticipated to be completed by October 2022. He urged the authorities to continue doing high-quality work on the project while meeting the deadline. .

The 7th Avenue is one of Islamabad’s busiest roads, receiving traffic from the Srinagar Highway, Khayaban-e-Soharwardi, and Garden Avenue. In addition, the chairman asked the CDA’s Environment Wing to develop an environmental mitigation strategy and plant as many trees as possible in order to prevent pollution.
