Swabi: Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan has announced that an estimated 250,000 people will gain employment through the Rashakai Economic Zone — with the project falling under the purview of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor initiative, according to news sources. A per the publication, the minister also took the opportunity to reveal that the Swat Expressway had also been made a part of CPEC.
Various other projects have also been included in the CPEC initiative. These comprise of the venture to extend the Swat expressway to Badian, the construction of an expressway in Dera Ismail Khan, and the development of the Chitral-Shandur Road.

The CM announced that Prime Minister Imran Khan had allocated PKR 83 billion for the development of the tribal districts. Likewise, he mentioned that an agreement had been reached, under which 18MW electricity from the Pehul High Level Canal (PHLC) would be supplied to the Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate — at an estimated rate of PKR 7 per unit.
Additionally, CM Mahmood also took the opportunity to state that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government had been at the forefront of establishing various public projects across Swabi; including the construction of a sports complex, Women’s University, and the Gajju Khan Medical College — along with the upgradation of hospitals and roads in the region. Moreover, the CM revealed that other projects, such as the construction of a grid-station and the Swabi-Mardan road, were currently under development.
