Lahore: The Punjab Police has prepared a comprehensive Ramzan security plan amid the continuing coronavirus situation in the city, a news source quoted Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Zulfiqar Hameed as saying.

The CCPO Lahore chaired a meeting on coronavirus protection measures during Ramzan following the 20 directives issued by the federal government. Hameed revealed creation of a plan aimed at controlling the spread of the virus, crime rate, and implementing fool proof security during the holy month. He said deployment of over 15,000 police officials across the city will be done.
Hameed highlighted that there would be increased patrolling at Sehr and Iftar times and added that they would also ensure the welfare of the police officials. As per reports, he directed his officers to take strict action against all lawless elements in this month – along with ensuring the safety and security of the public in mosques and other places of worship. He said that officers would make sure that there was social distancing observed between the pilgrims and subsequent ranks.

The CCPO said that young children and elderly citizens over 50 years of age would not have the permission to visit the worship sites. He further said that the areas sealed over virus concerns, worshippers would not have the permission to attend mosques and other religious places during the holy month.
Furthermore, Hameed said that there would be no gatherings in mosques at Sehr and Iftar to protect the citizens from coronavirus. As per the government’s orders, individuals concerned would observe Itikaf in their homes. He highlighted that those not following the suggested protective guidelines would face strict action.
