Lahore: Pakistan Railways has decided to launch two non-stop trains between Rawalpindi and Lahore from September 5, news sources reported. The trains have been launched by the Ministry of Railways to accommodate the growing number of passengers between Rawalpindi and Lahore and to cut the travel time.

The first double train left the Lahore station at 7:30 PM on September 5 and arrived at Rawalpindi Station at 11: 40 PM, while the other left Rawalpindi at 7:30 PM and reached Lahore at 11:40 PM. Similarly, the second special train will depart from the provincial capital for Rawalpindi at 5 AM on 6 September (today) and will reach Rawalpindi at 9: 25 AM after stopping at Gujranwala and Jhelum. The other Lahore-bound rail car will leave Rawalpindi at 5 AM.

The operation is a major addition to the existing train operation after disruptions in countrywide train operations due to rain and flooding. As per the ministry sources, the train connection between Quetta and the rest of the country has been severed due to the destruction of rail lines.
