Islamabad: Pakistan Railways has sought South Korea’s assistance to upgrade Main Line-I, II and III, a news source reported. A delegation of Korea Rail Network Authority (KRNA) called on Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad.
The KRNA delegation, led by South Korean Ambassador Kwak Sung-Kyu, visited Pakistan Railways to explore investment and business opportunities. KRNA is a subsidiary of the Transport Department of the Government of South Korea.
During the meeting, Rasheed said the railways department was open to investment from all countries and that the government was committed to upgrading Main Line-I and II. The former, he added, was the lifeline of the multi-billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
The minister, while inviting the KRNA delegation to look at the possibility of upgrading the three main lines, said Pakistan gave utmost importance to its ties with South Korea.
