Rawalpindi: The Pakistan Railways (PR) Rawalpindi Division has retrieved land worth billions of rupees from encroachers during its mega crackdown in the city, reported a news source. The PR Encroachment Department used heavy machinery and bulldozers to demolish illegally constructed structures on its land.

Reportedly, several acres of railways land near Madina-tul-Hujjaj was under the illegal occupation of certain influential individuals – being used in the form of farms and nurseries. PR retrieved this land with the help of the Railways Police.

In another operation, the PR Operational Team retrieved 4-kanals of land near Habib Colony. Their operation lasted for several hours – and was met with resistance.
As per reports, the land retrieved includes a number of houses; against which their occupants previously procured stay orders from the court. PR officials issued notices to these dwellers to vacate the property. Furthermore, PR’s legal team has received instructions to keep track of these cases in court.
PR Rawalpindi Division Superintendent Munawar Shah affirmed his resolve to retrieve every inch of railway land in the division from encroachers.
